Meetings and Minutes

Pete Hughes

It is with the deepest regret that Bedworth Aeromodellers have to announce the sudden death of Pete Hughes.

He was the kindest of men, who would help anyone with any sort of problem. He taught many of us to fly with patience and understanding. He was an expert scale model builder and he had some fine models to his credit.

Most of it all was his excellent good humour at putting up with a lot of silly old blokes on a field when he had the odd dodgy landing.

He was a systems engineer by profession. He said there was only one right answer ‘It’s my club too’, he said, ‘and I want it run properly’. He was out much valued treasurer, he could tell what date you had your field key, what our balance was to the penny, and when and if you had paid your BMFA subs.

In short we will miss him dreadfully – every club should have a Pete Hughes.

Our sympathy goes out to Anne and his family at their sad loss of a lovely Dad and Grandad at the early age of 65.

He suffered a heart attack while attending an LMA meeting at Cosford on 19th July 2009.

He will leave many fond memories behind him.
