ANOTHER GOLD FOR GBR TEAM!
The F1C Power British team won the team gold medal at the European Free-Flight Championships at Capannori, Italy on August 11th ahead of 18 other national teams. Neil Allen, Alan Jack and Ken Faux reached the tie-breaking fly-off and together finished just ahead of the redoubtable Russian and Ukrainian teams.
Duration is the sole aim at these competitions, and the aircraft our team flies climb faster than the Space Shuttle for the permitted five seconds of motor run but then convert to a slow flying glider, a design challenge unique in aviation. Glide times of ten minutes are achieved with these fascinating aircraft.
Another British success at the Championships was Russell Peers in the F1B class (Wakefield rubber-powered) where he won individual bronze. Russell has represented Britain on many occasions at this very highest level of the sport.
